About Micro Silica

Advantage

  • Higher compressive strength by 10-20 %
  • Reduces the rate of carbonation
  • Lower permeability i.e. resistance to penetration of water, chloride & other chemicals
  • Lower free lime formation - delays ettringite and thaumasite formation
  • Controls bleeding in fresh concrete
  • Lower Heat of Hydration, which prevents formation of cracks.

Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) + H2O CSH (Calcium     Silicate Hydrate) + Ca(OH)2(Free Lime)

The free lime does not contribute to strength of concrete. When combined with carbon dioxide, it forms a soluble salt, which leaches through the concrete causing efflorescence, a familiar architectural problem. Concrete is also more vulnerable to chemical attack and deterioration.

When CETEX Microsilica is added, the following reaction takes place:

Ca(OH)2 + SiO2 H20 + CSH

The reaction reduces the amount of calcium hydroxide in the concrete.

Micro filler effect - It is an extremely fine material, with an average diameter much finer than the cement. It gets well distributed in the cementatious paste, thus blocking the bleed-water channels.

Superior Concrete Enhancement

Micro Silica is widely recognized for its ability to dramatically improve concrete performance. When added as an additive, it increases compressive strength, durability, and resistance to chemicals. Its ultra-fine particle size fills micro-pores in concrete, leading to denser, more robust structuresa key benefit in large-scale infrastructure projects and high-performance construction.

Optimal Material for Refractory Applications

As a refractory additive, Micro Silica enhances structural integrity under high temperatures. Its fine powder form ensures excellent dispersion and bonding with other materials. This characteristic is particularly beneficial in furnaces and kilns, where thermal stability and resistance to thermal shock are critical for long-term material performance.

Reliable Supply Chain in India

Micro Silica is efficiently supplied throughout India by reputable dealers, distributors, exporters, manufacturers, producers, retailers, and wholesalers. Strong domestic production and distribution networks ensure a consistent, high-quality supply for various industrial requirements, supporting large-scale and small-scale projects across the country.

FAQs of Micro Silica:

Q: How is Micro Silica used in concrete and refractory applications?

A: Micro Silica is typically added to concrete or refractory mixtures during the manufacturing process. In concrete, it acts as a pozzolanic material, reacting with calcium hydroxide to form additional cementitious compounds, thereby increasing density and strength. In refractory products, it enhances bonding and heat resistance.

Q: What benefits does Micro Silica offer when used as a concrete additive?

A: When used as a concrete additive, Micro Silica significantly improves compressive strength, durability, impermeability, and chemical resistance. Its fine particle size fills gaps between cement particles, reducing permeability and enhancing the overall lifespan of the concrete structure.

Q: When should Micro Silica be incorporated into construction or industrial projects?

A: Micro Silica should be included when high-performance, durable, and chemically resistant concrete or refractory structures are required. This is especially valuable in large infrastructure projects, bridges, marine environments, industrial floors, furnaces, and kilns.

Q: Where can you source Micro Silica in India?

A: Micro Silica is widely available in India through manufacturers, exporters, dealers, distributors, suppliers, and wholesalers. Reliable supply chains ensure uniform quality and timely delivery for both large and small industrial applications across the country.

Q: What is the recommended process for adding Micro Silica to mixtures?

A: Micro Silica should be blended thoroughly into the dry components before water is added to ensure even dispersion. For ready mix concrete, it can be introduced at the batching plant or on-site by mixing with the cementitious components, followed by the addition of aggregates and water.

Q: What are the physical properties of Micro Silica relevant to its application?

A: Micro Silica is a dark grey, fine powder with a molecular formula of SiO2 and less than 1% humidity. It is odorless and easily integrated into powders or slurry, making it compatible with various cementitious and refractory formulations.
